A New Begining

HAPPY NEW YEAR! A lot has been going on in the Heathern Haint camp over the last few months. We finished up our tracks for the full length at Battletapes. All we need to do is get the final mastered mixes from Jeremy and get them to Dave at Lexicon Devil. We have also pretty much finished up the art work and should have that as well to send with masters.
We do have a bit of bad news. Tim lost his mother over the week of Thanksgiving. It came as a real shock to all of us. Our thoughts of healing go out for him and his family. He has moved back to Virginia to be with his father and brothers and we understand that he needs to do this and give him this time. It puts a bit of a bump in our plans, but hopefully we will be able to at least do an east coast tour for the upcoming record. We all want to continue, but we do not know what the future holds for the band. We feel if the 3 of us aren't taking part, then we choose not to continue as the Heathern Haints. We had a great year and we have been really blessed. Thank you so much to all of you who supported us, came to our shows and gave us a place to sleep after. We really appreciate everyone of you. Please stay tuned for further updates and possible other projects starting up. We hope everyone has a fruitful and positive year. Go and treat everyone as you would like to be treated with kindness and understanding. Spread the thoughts of community and friendship to everyone you come in contact with.

Wow we have a lot to catch up on. We just finished up recording new songs for the full length over at Battle Tapes with Jeremy. They sound really great and we are in the process of mixing between everything Jeremy is doing right now. It's good to see him really busy. Hope people saw our little ad on Foxy Digitalis this past month. We are just trying to expand our community and let people know we want to extend our friendship to them. Thanks goes out to our friend Cassie Waldman for helping us out with a really great ad. Lastly we had a really good review over at Dusted magazine. Here is the review:

Heathern Haints 12” EP
(self-released)

Slow-burning sloth jams, pulling all of Codeine’s tricks out of storage and polishing them up for reuse. The singer sounds like Ian McCullough, the band waiting for those precise Godspeed/Mogwai moments to burst forth, but sounding proudly instead of cowering in dirges. It works really well on “The Good Air,” better than anyone I’ve heard in a while on the ice/epic axis of the post rock scrapyard (“Golden Moment” features some fragile, Talk Talk-style deconstruction, justifying the metaphor). Nice one, took a while for it to sink in, but it stands out now. The entire pressing of 300 is all on mixed colored vinyl.

Hope everyone has a hope filled holiday season and all of our friends and families will be in our thoughts in the coming months.

Expanding the Community

Our record is $10 ppd anywhere in the world. We want to get our record into the hands of people who will appreciate what we have to offer. There is no agenda or manifesto. We just want to expand our music community and meet good people who will share with us along the way. It is about who you can connect with. We are very surprised and thankful for all we have up to this point. We continue on a daily basis experiencing new things and people. So, open your hearts along with us and share in our community.

The month of October will be very busy for us. Starting next weekend. We will be in Richmond, VA at the Riot House. Thanks to our friends Dark Sea Dream for hooking us up with the show. The next weekend we will be in Dayton, OH playing with our old friend Alex's new band at the Dayton Dirt Collective. Then its back home for a house show on Friday Oct. 24th with Conger Eel, Jeff and Looks Like Snakes. We travel to Odessa in Memphis on Oct. 29th for a show with USA is a Monster. It will be a fantastic show! Then we will back in time for Samhain. Hope to meet all kinds of new people and catch up with our old friends. We will bring the light and warmth with us.

We are proud to announce:

Ritual of White Light

Extend the community to Minneapolis band Vampire Hands. We will be playing with them next Thursday. I liken them to a little bit of Animal Collective and little Red Krayola. Ole Mossy Face will be playing with us and extending the bearded jams. Marty will be out of town for this show, so our friend Dave Brown has agreed to step in and hold down the low-end. This will probably be our last show in Nashville until the new year so everybody come and show some support.
On another note. We have been picked up by Tomentosa Records. A little distributor out of North Carolina. Josh has some very great records for sale. Most are small run and limited editions. You can find him here:Tomentosa Records He has some really great records, so go check him out now.
We will be sending some demos off to Lexicon Devil pretty soon. Dave, Lexicon Devil, and us have been discussing about putting out a full length cd. We hope that will come to light and hope we just didn't jinx our standings by letting everybody know. Keep good thoughts for us and we will be the candle in the darkness.
